MISSION STATEMENT
To foster safe and responsible firearm handling, develop marksmanship skills, and promote youth development through engaging, educational, and competitive shooting sports experiences.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in KGMP shall be open to any person who supports the goals and policies of the Organization. No person shall, on grounds of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, or handicap, be excluded from participation in or be subject to discrimination in any program or activity of the Organization.
Group Goals
To unit all marksmanship programs within King George under one program Archery-Riflery-Shotgun
To combine and focus all fundraising efforts.
To streamline and improve all recordkeeping & accounting
To design, acquire necessary land, and construct a marksmanship complex that will allow for improved practice and competition facilities
Upon completion of complex, to organize, promote, and host competitions at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
Educational Goals
The King George Marksmanship Program (KGMP) has several key goals that aim to not only teach shooting skills in Archery, Riflery, or Shotgun, but also foster personal growth and responsibility
Safety Education and Awareness - Teach and reinforce proper firearm safety practices.
Skill Development - Improve shooting accuracy, technique, and overall marksmanship.
Discipline and Focus - Encourage mental discipline, patience, and concentration.
Confidence Building - Helping build self-confidence through skill mastery and achievements.
Physical and Mental Fitness - Promote physical fitness and mental toughness.
Sportsmanship and Teamwork - Teach good sportsmanship and teamwork in a competitive setting
Responsibility & Accountability - Instill a sense of responsibility and accountability in participants.
Community Engagement and Mentorship - Create a sense community and provide positive role models.
Preparation for Competitive Shooting - Prepare participants for competitive shooting sports, including local, regional, or national events.
Character Development - Promote integrity, respect, and personal responsibility.
Outcome Goals
Understand the importance of safe handling, storage, and usage of firearms to minimize accidents and promote responsible behavior.
Develop proficient shooting skills through regular practice and instruction, focusing on fundamentals such as stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control.
Foster an environment where participants learn the importance of focus, self-control, and setting goals in both shooting and everyday lives.
Participants gain a sense of accomplishment as they improve their skills, which can translate to a positive impact in other areas of their lives.
Marksmanship requires both physical stability and mental concentration, encouraging participants to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Participants learn to work with others, respect their peers, and handle both success and failure gracefully, weather in individual or team events.
Encourage participants to take ownership of their actions, including their training and behavior during events.
Participants can form supportive relationships with coaches, mentors, and peers, which can lead to personal growth and a stronger sense of belonging.
Provide opportunities to engage in structured competition, enhancing skills and offering a potential career or hobby in shooting sports.
Participants learn the values of honesty, respect for others, and the importance of maintaining high ethical standards both inside and outside of the shooting range.
